WINTER LIGHT

27 X 30
Painted in the Buckland Southwick studio out of one of the south windows.

Diary Comments:
“Painted late winter of 1947.   A window picture of the south west studio window, often painted before.   Blossoming geraniums in the window and the basket of begonia and small geranium to the right against the dark red curtain. Grouped about the blossoming red geranium to the left is a dark blue handle, light blue glass hat, two red apples, a candlestick, and running out of the canvas to the left, beyond the candlestick is set of small red books.    The right hand slopes of Putts Hill and Ashfield Mts., in snow, out of the window, with Trow’s bare mowing maple in the white foreground.   Bought in the summer of 1947 by Dr.and Mrs. J. C. Hales, 183 Lawrence St., Gardner, Mass.,  who also bought at the time The Peace of Years.”

Notes:

None.

Light blue glass hat remains in the artist's studio.
