Additional Notes

The image of this unnamed and unsigned painting was discovered in a collection of KodaChome slides taken by amateur photographer, high school principal and close RSW friend F. Earl Williams held in the Smithsonian Institute under his name as part of RSW's collection.

This painting could very well have been a gift to Williams. Williams has been reported to have possessed as many as eight paintings by RSW, including three additional paintings of his choosing given at the bequest of Woodward in his will. We do not know what the eight paintings are nor what became of them after Williams death. Other paintings photographed in the KodaChome collection that we do not know of their location are Aged Roofs and Portrait of a Shadow.
