What an amazing and unique painting! Particularly the portion with the man leading the oxen along the path pulling a buckboard carriage. We wonder if he is collecting buckets of sap. There was some argument among us as to the time of year this portrays. It was suggested, because there appears to be some green in the fields but no leaves on the trees that this maybe early December. However, sap season in Massachusetts is between the months of February and March, April at the latest. If the man is collecting buckets then this could very well be a late sugaring painting, early spring or possibly April.
We want to thank its owner for contacting us and providing us the picture.
