RSW's Diary Comments

More Snow Tomorrow
More Snow Tomorrow, sepia print

"Painted in winter of 1940 - 1. Very white winter view of the Beech Tree, blue hills and ledges, heavy with snow, under gray sky with sun spot showing; a great favorite of mine as pure expression of Heath winter. Bought in October, 1945, by Mr. and Mrs. John Fellows (Helen Pierce) of Mahwah, New Jersey."

Comments on the back of a sepia print:

"My Heath Beech Tree, as in Snowing on the Hill and Winter Horizon, but quite different in conception than either of these. Subtle gray sky with yellow sun spot, rich band of winter blue hills (not showing in Snowing on the Hill.) Pure white foreground with ochre and rose, spots of grass and old ferns."
