We usually have some idea or example that we use to illustrate the subject, or even the typical coloring of a painting might be, however, here we are at a loss. While we know Woodward painted in "midsummer" the subject vary greatly. In the summer of 1932, between July 15th and the 25th, the artist traveled to the Hoosiac Tunnel area to finish his canvas, June Hills, and drove to Whitingham, VT, to make Mount Haystack Over Sadawga, and started a painting of Red Barns while also finishing up a painting from the Moors place in Heath, MA. Midsummer was a productive time for the artist.
