RSW's Diary Comments

"Painted 1941 or 2. A painting made in Halifax Vt. of Mr. Goodnough's house, one I've always longed to paint. The farm next to my much painted 'Halifax House', old N.E. house with large guardian maples. Sold March 13, 1947 to Mr. Herbert B Newton, 214 Oak St., Holyoke, Mass."

Comments on the back of a sepia print:

"Old weathered gray house with traces of faded yellow paint on the front. Brilliant sunlit maple trunks."
