Another painting with a confusing past. Initially, this painting became known to us when it came up for sale on e-bay in May 2007 and then was taken down. The canvas was reportedly torn in a couple places. It was a late entry to Woodward's 125th Birthday Celebration Exhibition in 2010 and in good condition.
The name given at the 125th show was "October Blaze." Both "Autumn Blaze" ('32) and "October Blaze" ('31 and '44) are listed in the exhibition list, however, "October Blaze" is twice listed as a chalk drawing, possibly two different chalks being they are so far apart in years.
Further research is needed to sort this matter out and so until then we are treating this 25 x 30 oil painting as the 1932 Autumn Blaze until something definitively tells us otherwise.
