"Painted in fall of 1943. Row of old maples against stone wall with grass grown road to right, made just beyond cellar hole of my Heath property. Very green canvas, flecked with sunlight. Bought in September 1945 by Mrs. Winfred Rhoades (Edith Storer) and hung perfectly in her rare old house (built in 1724) at Chestnut Hill, Mass, 521 Hammond Street, a rare example of perfect placement."
Painted on the old road going towards the Heath pasture from the Ox-bow in Charlemont Massachusetts.
