SPENCER WOODWARD HOUSE

A very picturesque scene, almost Currier & Ives, of a farmhouse with a winding road over a wooden bridge up to the house, was painted on two occasions by Robert Strong Woodward. The farm, known in recent years as the "Nilman House" was originally known, and is now again known, as the "Spencer Woodward House." Spencer Woodward was the great great grandfather of RSW. Our research reveals that this was the original homestead of the Woodward family in Buckland.
