The industrialist, Bartlett Arkell, was a very good friend of Robert Strong Woodward. These two men met in Manchester, Vermont. The Equinox Hotel held an exhibition sponsored by the Southern Vermont Artists Association some time in 1933. Mr. Arkell was just founding the Canajoharie Art Museum. He purchased his first oil, June Corn, from those at the exhibition to become a part of the museum's permanent collection. Read more in our Scrapbook Story! |
