Mount Equinox in Manchester, Vermont, is a favorite subject of Woodward's. He painted and drew it frequently. In fact, a few unfinished drawings were discovered in the attic of his carriage house. Woodward would often enter his Mt. Equinox paintings to the annual Southern Vermont Art Association show held in Manchester.

Started in 1927, it was one of the very few association exhibits Woodward would visit and frequently attend. It is the show he met and befriended two of his best and most ardent customers, Adaline Frelinghuysen and Bartlett Arkell
